Why is word used?
Word is used for the creation of document.

Some  functions of word processor :Layout setting=Margins, tabs.... can be set and be reset anywhere in the document.
                                                          :Style sheets=when you apply a  whole group of formats in one simple task such as Heading 1.
                                                          :Spelling checker and Thesaurus=spelling for an individual word, marked block of text or an entire document can be checked.
                                                           :Footer and Header: Footer printed at the end of a page or document and Header is printed at the top of a page or document.
                                                           : Search and replace, Move and copy= Any occurence of text can be replaced with another block of text. You can mark words and even block of text and move them elsewhere in the document or copy them throughout the document.

What is mail merge?
Mail merge is used to create personalised letters by combining together form letter and a list of data.

What is table of contents?
Usually table of contents are used to get an overview of the topics discussed in the document.

What are indexes?
 Indexes are when you mark some words from your document and then build in an index. The index list the terms and topics discussed in a document with the page number they appear on.

What is input?

Input is any data or instructions entered into the memory of the computer.

Some examples of input devices are: mouse which is the most wiidely used pointing device on personal computers.

:keyboard which contains keys that allow the user to enter data by typing.

: trackball is a stationary pointing device with a ball machism on its top. It doesn't need a lot of space on the desk because the user doesn't have to move the entire device.

  

What is output device ?

Output is data that has been processed into a used form, called information.

Examples of output devices are the printers the VDU (visual display unit)



There are many types of printers

: Dot matrix printer
 
: Inkjet printer

:Laser printer

: Plotter (non impact)

What is impact?

Impact is forms characters and graphics on a piece of paper by striking a mechanism against an ink ribbon that physically strike the page.
 
What is vector?
Vector is an image that constructs the image from a series of lines segments and when you get the picture bigger the picture is still recognisable.
 
What is a raster?
A raster is a picture made up from pixels. The more pixels you have the more the picture is recognisable.When the picture get bigger it will not be recognisable.
 
What is resolution?
Resolution is how sharp the picture is. The more pixels the picture has the more sharp the picture will be.

Binary is a number system which can be only 2 digits 0 or 1. There are also Hexadecimal and decimal.                                                      Hexadecimals:0

The more bits we use to represent an item of data the more different characters we can represent.
 
The bit with the smallest value is called the Least Significant Bit (LSB) and the bit with the largest value is called the most significant bi (MSB)
Characters
 
Characters are used in every day life to express information. this means that using binary code.
 
If 8 bits is used to store a character 256 characters can be stored 28 =256 characters
 
Ascii (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) but this wasn't enough so now we have the unicode which allow 216   combination                                    
 
1 Bit can be either 0 or 1
A Byte is made up of 8 bits
1 kilobyte=1024 bytes
1 Megabyte=1024 kilobytes
1 Gigabyte=1024 Megabytes
1 Terabyte=1024 Gigabytes
What is an Analoge device?
An Analoge device is one in which data is represed by some quantity which is continuosly changing.
 
What is a digital device?
A digital device is a device that shows data at descrete intervals.
